Distributed Crafts is a company building open-source software and contributing research to develop the next era of blockchain solutions. They aim to onboard the first billion people to Bitcoin.

BRIEF_ Distributed Crafts is a parent company to blockchain projects, e.g. Interlay & BOB and prefers to save the spotlight for the products is represents. Since it serves as a forefront for these initiatives, the character of the identity had to be all-encompassing but not dehumanized. The client wished it specifically to be welcoming with a professional tone of voice and a hint of tech-savviness.
SOLUTION_ To make the identity neutral yet ownable I relied on single vibrant colour and modular, geometric shapes. Furthermore, patterns and 3D elements were introduced to emphasize its roots in blockchain & IT. The idea was to present the complex nature of the company, both as a parent to other projects as well as its team of diverse individuals. This dual approach was also used for photography, presenting geometrical patterns/architecture juxtaposed with everyday people.
APPLICATION_ Since the company aimed at small-scale public presence, I decided to limit that and focus on people-oriented applications instead. This way, the project would become ownable for the team members, creating a sense of community, while working remotely. Still, essential brand elements were designed alongside digital materials and a website.
